Tour 2 «D-DAY OMAHA CIRCUIT»

Because Omaha isn’t just a beach, it’s also a much larger area, I’m offering you a half-day tour to explore La Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and the Colleville sur Mer American Cemetery. 4 hours (or more depend on traffic).  approx 35 km.

Meeting point:  Colleville sur mer (Town hall car park) and from there we will head to La Pointe du Hoc where I will tell you the story of the assault by Colonel Rudder’s Rangers on June 6, 1944 and the two days of fighting that followed (one hour walking on site). We’ll then make our way to Omaha Beach via country roads. This special route is an opportunity to discover the Normandy countryside, the “bocage” landscape and its famous hedgerows, beautiful farms and small churches.

Then we will stop at three different places to discover the battlefield of « Bloody Omaha » :

– The mythical “Dog Green Sector” from the opening scene of “Saving Private Ryan”, in Vierville sur Mer

-The famous sculpture designed by Anilore Banon « The Braves » on the beach of Saint Laurent sur Mer

– The German resistance nest “WN62”.

These three viewing points will allow you to see the beach and the escarpment from the perspective sides of both the GI’s and the Germans soldiers.

The conclusion of the visit will include a visit to the American Military Cemetery.
