Tour 4 «D-DAY OMAHA BEACH SECTOR E-BIKE Explorers»
«D-DAY OMAHA BEACH SECTOR E-BIKE Explorers » half a day by bike. Private tour for 2 to 6 people (approx 4 hours)
You would like to explore Omaha Beach and Pointe du Hoc by bike, I’ll join you with my bike and provide historical commentary as we make several stops at these incredible Overlord sites.
Bring your bikes to take part in this experience.
Need to rent bikes? Email me, and I’ll send you the contact information for bike rental shops in the area.
I can also lend you two e-bikes
For an original and exciting way to discover the Omaha Beach sector and the history of June 6, 1944, I propose a private commentated bike tour.
This is an easy cycling tour, suitable for less athletic riders, can be completed on eitherregular or electric bike.
I will suggest different stops to visit on foot strategic points including spectacular views on Omaha Beach. This will allow you to see the key monuments that line Omaha Beach: “Les Braves” sculpture, Naval Combat Demolition Unit monument, the Dog Green Sector which is the famous location depicted in Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan”.
From Omaha Beach we will cycle to the Pointe du Hoc on the “vélo maritime”, a magnificent 9 km cycling cliff path overlooking the sea. Then we will walk to the spectacular Pointe du Hoc, through the German artillery battery. This is one of the keys sites of D-Day landings. This artillery battery located at the top of a cliff was attacked by Rangers who scaled the cliff on June 6, 1944.
We will then return to Omaha Beach via small country lanes (approx 13 km), an opportunity to discover the Normandy countryside, the “bocage” landscape and its famous hedgerows, beautiful farms and small churches.
I can also suggest anther interesting tour from Omaha Beach, Collleville-sur-Mer to Port-en-Bessin.
This tour includes a visit to Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery. Then we’ll drive among « vélomaritime », a picturesque coastal road.
An electric bike or good physical condition is recommanded for this slighly more challenging route.
