For this first guided tour of Omaha Beach of the year, ‘step on’ formula, I board the car of a family from Fontaine-Henry.

Although they are familiar with the history of DDay, they chose this guided tour to learn the secrets of Omaha Beach.

During this private tour of Omaha Beach, I take them to places they don’t know.
We start with the most beautiful viewpoint on the beach. Site of a German fortification which was occupied by around thirty German soldiers on June 6, 1944. This is the opportunity to visit the tobruks which housed machine guns and mortars. A good starting point for understanding the history of Omaha Beach.

We continue the visit to the most important monuments of Omaha Beach. This monument was erected may, 30 2024 and dedicated to the NCDU. The Naval Combat Demolition Units were elite US Navy units created to clear beaches obstacles. At Omaha Beach, they formed GATs (Gap assault teams) with army soldiers. Together they had the heavy responsibility of creating passages among thousands of anti-landing devices on the beach. The fate of the following waves depended on their success. They suffered very heavy losses.

From there we drive to The Braves , the famous Annielore Banon sculpture.

We end the visit in Vierville sur Mer to discover the Dog Green sector; it is the best defended place on the beach, where there will be a very large number of victims among American soldiers at the very beginning of the day of June 6, 1944 .It is one of the best-known and most visited places by Americans and tourists from around the world. The statue of the two GI’s of the 116th Infantry Regimental Combat Team of the 29th Infantry Division It is an obligatory and very moving stop.
