Often, the travellers I guide at Omaha Beach send me photos of me they took during the tour. That gave me the idea to write a post introducing myself…so here it is.
My name is Véronique, and I am a local private guide specializing in Omaha Beach and D-Day landing.
I was born in Bayeux and I grew up here. I’ve lived few kilometres from Omaha Beach for nearly 30 years.
This is my third year as a self-employed guide with OMAHABEACHEXPLORERS, and every season I have the privilege of meeting visitors from all over the world-especially American families and travelers who come to Normandy to better understand what happened here on June 6, 1944.
I have a degree in history from the University of Caen, Normandy and I have always had a particular passion for the history of Normandy and the Second World War.
But being a good guide is not only about knowing dates and facts. It is about making history understandable, bringing places to life, and helping visitors connect what they are seeing today with what happened here more than 80 years ago.

My style of guiding: dynamic, personal and easy to understand
My tours are designed to be lively, interactive and personal.
I don’t want visitors to simply listen to a long list of dates, names and military units. I want them to understand the story.
Why Omaha Beach so difficult to capture?
What did the American soldiers actually see when they came ashore?
How did the german defenses work?
Why did some units suffer such heavy casualties?
And how did the events of June 6 eventually lead to the liberation of Normandy and Europe?
These are questions we explore together.
I use maps, photographs and wartime archive images to help you to visualize the battelfield and how the landscape looked like in 1944.
Standing on Omaha Beach while looking an original wartime photograph can completely change the way you see the landscape.

Walking, driving or cycling -you choose the experience

I offer different ways to explore the D-day sites, depending on your interests, time and group.
We can explore Omaha Beach, the german defensive positions and the areas around the American cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, while discussing the soldiers who fought there.

Private tours by car
For visitors who want to discover more of the beach, a private tour by car is a great option.
I can accompany you in your own vehicle, allowing us to travel between several important D-Day sites while keeping the tour personal and flexible.
Depending on your interests, we can visit places such as Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, the Normandy American cemetery, La Cambe
German war cemetery and other less-known locations connected with the battle of Normandy.

Cycling tours
Bring your bikes, rent them and I’ll go with you!

For active visitors, exploring Normandy by bicycle offers another way to experience the landscape.
The countryside, small roads and villages around the D-Day beaches are an important part of understanding the Normandy battlefield.

Tours for famillies, private visitors and groups
One of the things I particularly enjoy is guiding families with children.
D-Day history can sometimes seem complicated or difficult to approch, especially for youngers visitors.
My goal is to make it clear, interesting and memorable, while always respecting the seriousness of what happened here.
I love seeing children become curious, asking questions and gradually realizing that the places around them were once a battelfield. And honestly, I think they enjoy it too!

My tours are also suitable for :
- American visitors and international travelers
- Couples and individual travelers
- Families with children
- private groups
- corporate groups and company outings
- School and educational groups
- Small or larger groups

My goal : help you to understand D-Day at omaha Beach
There is an enormous amount of information abour D-Day.
But when you stand on Omaha Beach, it can be difficult to understand what you are actually looking at. My job is to help you to read the battlefield.
I want you to leave Omaha Beach with a clear understanding of the events of June 6, 1944 – not just rembering a few dates, but understanding the people, the military decisions, the geography, the German defenses and the extraordinary challenge faced by the American soldiers.
And you to be abble to look at the landscapedifferently when you leave.
Because Omaha Beach is not just a beautiful beach in Normandy. It is a battelfield filed with history.
Why I love being a D-Day guide
After three years of guiding with Omahabeachexplores, I still find something special in every tours.
Every group is different. Some visitors come because a gran-father, uncle, father landed is Normandy. Others simply want to understand one of the most important event of the 20th century. Some know a great deal about D-Day before they arrive. Others are discovering the story for the first time.
I enjoy adapting to each group and finding the right way to tell the story.
For me, being a guide means sharing my knoledge, but also sharing my enthusiasm for Normandy and history.
And there is nothing better than seeing visitors leave Omaha Beach saying : » Now I understand »
if you are planing a trip to Normandy and looking for a private familly tour, a walking tour of Omaha Beach, a Omaha Beach D-Day tour by car , or a cycling tour, I can create an experience adapted to your group.
Come and discover Omaha Beach with a local guide who loves this place – and who loves sharing its history with visitors from around the world !
