Tour 1 « OMAHA BEACH D-DAY Explorers »

ON BOARD GUIDE IN YOUR OWN PRIVATE VEHICLE - 3 hours

The history of June 6, 1944 on Omaha Beach is so complex and rich in events that the five mile long battlefield deserves a specially dedicated 3 hour tour (or more depending on traffic) approx 20 kms :  To understand the incredible history of D-Day of Omaha Beach, you will be driving and I will provide explanations.

This tour is special because it allows you to discover the beach in its entirety, offering you the opportunity to see the shores of the 3 villages on Omaha Beach: Colleville sur Mer, Saint Laurent sur Mer and Vierville sur Mer.

I will propose different stops during which we will walk to strategic spots including several spectacular views on Omaha Beach. This will allow you to explore fortifications of the Atlantic Wall and see the key monuments that line Omaha Beach.

My purpose here is to help you understand why this beach has been nicknamed « Bloody Omaha »  and comprehend how the paradise of « Golden Sands »  became a living hell for the GI’s.

This tour will give you the geographical perspective of both the GI’s and German soldiers, from the beach to the escarpment.
